KETCHUP WITH SZES

HI!

I'm utterly sorry for being so boring, here.
I know it's been so damn long so here's an entry which I've been constantly updating of what I've been doing from January - February 2014, noting only the more memorable and eventful days.
Enjoy!!!!!!

1) SZES TURNS EIGHTEEN

Firstly, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much to those who've wished me either by call, text, on Twitter, Facebook or on AskFm. I tried my best to reply and thank back each and everyone who wished me and I'm really sorry if I've missed out your wishes and didn't reply to thank you back - so,
T H A N K   Y O U   A L L
- for all the wishes, presents, cards and surprises.
(Other details will be posted separately, maybe a birthday post? Haha :-)

2) EARLY CNY REUNION LUNCH WITH THE BESTFUCKIN'FRIENDS

Who says we can only have reunion lunch with our family?
Though our CNY visiting was kinda fail, this kinda make it up for the missing $20, I hope. HAHAHAHAHA

"People who cook, and eat together, stays together." - Szes, 2014
True aye? Definitely.

What I love about this reunion steamboat was that, we get to do the simplest things from grocery shopping to preparing the ingredients and soup stock to cooking and consuming everything, together.

3) CNY 2014

Lunar New Year has always been a really big occasion for my family and I. Since young, I've always loved the games (gambling), the scrumptious meals and of course, the red packets. This year, though, was really different from the past years because I was extremely excited for CNY.
I have been eagerly anticipating for the eve of CNY and the whole 15 days of CNY to come, I don't even know why. All I know was, I wasn't really interested in how much I would get from all the red packets, I wasn't really excited for the food, I was, instead, super excited about the gathering and family time I could have with my family and extended family. Honestly. I guess it's probably due to age, maturity and wisdom, haha.

DAY ZERO - EVE OF CNY

My family had a really simple reunion lunch on "chu xi"(eve of CNY). What I valued the most was the time spent together with daddy, mummy, big bro and sissy because it's been sooooooo damn long since we spend time together as a family due to work, school, army, whatnot - it's depressing, sometimes. It hurts me to say this but, it kills me sometimes when I feel awkward around my bro - I think he's hiding behind his guard and distancing himself away from the family. :(
The other day, I was still talking to BFFs about bringing my whole family to USS with my own money but,...sigh.
Simple yet so heartwarming and cozy

DAY ONE OF CNY

Since young, my family would always spend the first of CNY with the paternal family. The family is reallllllllly big so it's kinda hard and tedious to remember how to address them with the correct "ranking" and "grandaunt/uncle(internal)/granduncle/aunt(married in)" and then not forgetting their children and their children's children hahahaha - headache. All of us would gather at my first granduncle's home and have food (after the very tedious greetings) and the adults would chit-chat while my cousin(Kevin), my siblings and I would always seclude ourselves in the study room - not to study but just to lepak in the air-con room. LOL Sometimes, I really do want to get to know Kevin well and break the ice, but I so shy :( I feel bad when I always give him one-word replies and kill the conversation between us, damn. One day, just one day, hopefully I will start the small talk first hehe.

& Sissy
We don't really have much to do on the first day of CNY except to eat, eat, eat and eat. No gambling, no nothing because the family's kinda strict, I guess. A normal CNY day one routine would be:
1) Go into the house, greet everyone, wish them "happy lunar new year"
2) Buffet time
3) Go into the room to lepak
4) Go to the temple
5) Go back to lepak/watch TV/sleep
6) Have an early dinner
7) Home sweet home
It's kinda mundane, nothing much to be really excited about honestly, but I do appreciate the efforts and treasure the time we had there - every year.

DAY TWO

The most anticipated day of CNY because we get to gather at my maternal grandparents' shophouse and do all sorts of really fun, crazy and rowdy things. Not to mention my cousins!!!!
How dyou feel when you get this? hehehehe

DAY XXX

After being separated for dayssssss, we finally had the time to meet up and spend some time together. We had Swensen's for dinner because, again, we didn't know what we wanted so we chose random numbers and made up to shops' unit number and it was Swensen's unit number. LOL
What we had #sosingaporean #foodporn #mandatoryfoodshot

After the not-so-satisfying meal, as always, we wandered around the mall for the 123456789th time so far, to burn time. Nothing much, just a simple meet up to spend some time together <3

4) MATERNAL FAMILY REUNION MEALS

Our private dining room
YuSheng that was too precious for us to really toss it around
Ong Cousins United <3
The lunch ended at around 1-2pm and all of us headed home afterwards, we being more of an literally "out-going" person, felt very very very uneasy to be going home at such broad daylight, so I made calls to people to ask if they wanted to go wander around with me.....and thankfully, these two girls were kind enough to accompany me out hehe yayyyyyyyy.
Our OOTD
While Mei pees......
We headed over to town(as always) to just walk around and window shop and surprisingly, I didn't purchase anything(except for something I needed, otherwise, Szes really did controlled herself from all the temptations, yay)! Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, Min's twin brother was with us too hahaha.
We THEN headed to Bugis to meet Regine, Nasrun and Regine's colleague to have Roti Prata along Haji Lane. I swear the smells sheesha-s were a little too attractive than they should be to me. I wanna tryyyyyyyyyyy :x
Anyway, we cabbed home all the way from Bugis and ended our day yay.

I realised this post is getting wayyyyyy tooooo lonnnnnng so I've decided to cut it into two/three part(s), so, stay tuned for part two! Hehe
Meanwhile, stay gold, stay safe and take care!

P/S I'm finally able to post this after sooooooo freakin' damn long :-(
